I have been resisting putting my work into cafes for no other reason then Steven Pressfield's definition of the amateur. My excuse: Either I don't have enough pieces or those I do have were done too small, too big, too quick, not done- So, to just get over myself I selected a few images to start with. The problem is,when I imagine any of them in a cafe I feel crowded.
The one with the glass and the wine bottle is the self portrait.

First Steps
Day one. I found myself chasing an art director this morning. Every coffee house handed me the same unofficial scribble on a piece of scrap paper. "Contact this woman, she handles the 'art wall'" they would say dismissively- waving a hand as if declaring they had no interest in the images selected to define their business space. Cafe after cafe, and finally seeking a bit more professionalism I stumbled into a local gallery, where the condescending posture of the artistic elite glared down from every wall. So, after a brief encounter with a pretentious assistant who promptly informed me they were booked over a year in advance, I drifted out in search of a cup of coffee.
This I dare say is the the first taste of the professional world of art. Rather unremarkable, but I believe this is just the first of a life long relationship. I believe it takes learning the tact of this field of ideology and class. I think I have just begun to see the divisions of 'art' with those of decoration.
This all began I decided quite recently that it's time to move some of my art work into the public sphere. I feel it will take time life scooping up a mountain with a spoon, but I have hope.
